Local Care Direct: Formed with enthusiasm

Our vision was to maintain the NHS ethic by working for patients rather than profits. We wanted to find new ways of meeting their needs and break away from the rigid system of supply. In other words, develop a totally unique way of providing healthcare.

... and so we did!

We are a totally independent organisation, but we reinvest all profits back into the services we provide. We remain committed to the priciples of the NHS, but we are able to operate in a very different way. By constantly looking for flexible solutions, we are able to meet the demands of our patients.

Local Care Direct is an example of social enterprise working with NHS partners to improve healthcare. We are a mutual society, owned by our members, who are made up from GPs, staff, patients and local people with an interest in what we do.

We have a three-fold governance structure Advisory Council and a Board of Directors.
