Dr Georgina Haslam
Chair of the Board

Georgina has had a portfolio career including working as a GP in Bingley, West Yorkshire until 2013. She was acting Clinical Director for Local Care Direct from 2010-11. She has over 20 years’ experience of commissioning new patient services which deliver holistic care closer to home. Whilst Clinical Lead for the Yorkshire Cancer Network she worked both regionally and nationally to improve outcomes for cancer patients. She previously chaired Clinical Executive committees in both Bradford and Airedale and as Urgent Care lead for Bradford City and District CCGs led the development of clinical governance within the NHS 111 service. Georgina is a Care Quality Commission GP specialist advisor, an Honorary Tutor for the University of Leeds Medical School and Chair of Trustees of the Shipley based charity Health Action Local Engagement (HALE).

Helen Carr
Chief Executive

Helen leads the executive team to develop strategic plans in association with other partners and to ensure these are delivered and, as an integral member of the Board, reviews performance and oversees effective governance of the company. A key priority is to champion patient services and standards, as well as influencing and supporting national, regional and local healthcare policy and decision-making. Helen is also a financial specialist in Internal Control Environments and Procedures and has experience in internal audit, negotiation, organisational set up, acquisitions, quality assurance. Helen has worked with audit, legal and banking professionals at PLCs, private companies, social enterprises and charitable organisations.

Andrew Nutter
Deputy Chief Executive & Chief Operating Officer

Andrew is a founder member of Local Care Direct who was attracted to social enterprise after a career which had spanned roles in journalism, public relations, general management and consultancy in the public and private sectors. Andrew remains committed to the benefits provided by effective social business. In his current role, Andrew has responsibility for business development, project management, risk management, information technology, governance, business planning and communications.

Paul Dean
Company Secretary

Paul joined Local Care Direct in April 2019 following a career in Retail Banking. Paul held a number of senior positions across a range of disciplines including Sales, Operations and more recently Risk and Governance. Paul’s primary responsibilities within LCD currently  focus on Board Governance. Paul is also a Trustee of two charities  – the Shipley based charity HALE, and Eldwick Village Society.

Dr Mutaz Aldawoud
Director of Clinical Innovation

Mutaz works as a General Practitioner in Bradford and holds an MBA with specialism in strategic management in life sciences and healthcare. He joined Local Care Direct in July 2011 as Clinical Lead for Service Innovation. He is passionate about narrowing the gap in health inequalities and in enabling technology to enhance quality of life and improve health outcomes. Mutaz has represented grassroot GPs through being a member and negotiator for Bradford & Airedale’s Local Medical Committee since 2008.

Diane Whale
Director of Finance

Diane is responsible for the financial management of the organisation. She is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years’ experience in the profession, having previously worked in public practice and industry. Diane has been involved in acquisitions, business start up and restructures and has worked with audit, banking, legal and pension professionals in both private companies and PLCs.

Dawn Harvey
Director of Clinical Governance & Quality

Dawn qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1987. She joined Local Care Direct in 2011 & has held corporate management roles as Senior Nurse Manager, Clinical Governance Lead & her current role as Director of Clinical Governance & Quality. Dawn leads our Clinical Governance, Quality & Clinical specialty teams at Local Care Direct & acts as Caldicott Guardian & Controlled Drugs accountable Officer. Dawn works collaboratively with professional bodies such as GMC, NMC, NHSE, & links externally with other stakeholders such as commissioners & Yorkshire Ambulance Service to promote an integrated approach to clinical governance management across care pathways.
