We are delighted to announce that Wharfedale has received a formal designation as an Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC)! This is the result of phenomenal amount of work from staff in Local Care Direct and our partners across the Leeds Health & Social Care System.

Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC) is one of the NHS’s main national service improvement priorities. The UTCs play a significant role in simplifying access to urgent and emergency care and diverting patients from A&E where clinically appropriate.

To attain a formal UTC designation, centres now need to meet the NHS’s new core standards. This requires ambitious challenges to secure resources, establish clear clinical pathways, ensure technical interoperability and to facilitate direct booking between local services and NHS 111.

This recognition is testament to the significant experience, expert knowledge and excellent workforce that Local Care Direct can provide, together with partners, working to improve the health of people across West Yorkshire and Craven.
